You guys were SOOOOOO right. Even the NATIONAL MEDIA has to make excuses for the "chosen one", who was smiling after the threw that last pick, just like his cuz Aaron Brooks is wont to do. Peep this:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/04/AR2005120400608.html

    Quote:

"CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers didn't have to find a way to stop Michael Vick.
He did it all by himself.

Determined to make Vick a pocket passer, Atlanta kept the crafty quarterback bottled up despite his long history of running wild against the Panthers. It resulted in a punchless offense for the Falcons, who could only manage a pair of field goals in their 24-6 loss to Carolina on Sunday."

UTTERLY RIDICULOUS!!! This was the single most DOMINANT defensive performance I have seen from ANY team since the Pats beat the Colts 20-3 in the divisional playoffs January 2005.

Fuck 'em, dude. Even though I occasionally hope for better, I've long since realized that the media just doesn't give a shit about the Panthers because we're a small market and don't have players who get ratings or sell papers. The only people who give us respect are former players (Howie Long) and coaches (Jimmy Johnson).

    Edit:
Given some of the people who work at ESPN, let me make that intelligent former players.

Former, player- 'analysts', like Steve Young and M (pipe) Irvin, who have been on the ass whippin end of the Panthers' in previous years don't give us much lovin.

Of course collin said 'intelligent', so I misspoke. sorry.

"But Atlanta coach Jim Mora wants Vick to improve his passing so the Falcons aren't forced to rely on his legs so much. Mora stubbornly stuck with that game plan, holding Vick to a baffling three carries for 36 yards."

I guess they didn't notice the vick carry on 4th and one resulted in Vick on his ass with a big loss. The D held vick, not the coach. What a dumbshit writer. Definitely got the theisman vick-dick in mouth disease.

"The Panthers weren't overly efficient in this one, doing just enough to finally pull one out against their nemesis. Tensions were high between the rivals, with several on-field scuffles breaking out at the end of plays."

"just enough" to 'pull out a vicory'? Wonder what the'd score been had we actually done something like been 'efficient'?

"After Carolina fullback Brad Hoover and DeAngelo Hall took turns throwing the ball at each other _ Hoover was called for a personal foul _ the teams had to be separated after several seconds of shoving that drew Mora to midfield to pull away his players."

Well, now we know, the writer didn't actually watch any of the game.

Edit: also notice, the article (and others) weren't about how th Panthers beat their ass, but how the falcons lost to the panthers, along with, for good measure, at least one or more paragraphs dwelling on past stats on how the've been 'dominating' us up till now.

I don't remember when it was that I realized that the AP uses a bunch of faceless morons, but it was pretty demoralizing. Seriously, if you have idiots writing the "news," where can you actually get a reasonable account of an event (be it sporting or whatever)?
