then explain why its okay that guy that was primarily brought in for "veteran influence" should be allowed to get away with breaking the law and others can't...

...its hypocritical for those people that bitch about our players being crimanls then when a favorite comes along they turn the other cheek... Michael Bates is one of my all time fave Panthers but he did wrong and he's no better a person than anyone else... he knew the possible ramifications of his decision abd he still got behind the wheel.

    I've never bitched.

I'm guessing Smith is an alcoholic - and that other shit happened besides the DWI. I was still surprised he was cut. Of course Davis is a massive improvement.

I could care less. Only one I wanted cut was Carruth.

For what it's worth an arrest does not = a conviction.

DUI while no doubt an error in judgement is significantly less than oh...... I don't know........ Killing your girlfriend and unborn child.

Your right. He is no better than anyone else and just like everyone else does at some point in their life he made a mistake. The problem with Lamar Smith was the fact that it was his 2nd offense along with a documented drinking problem that landed him a nice little vacation in Charter Pines or something like it.

If he doesn't learn from this and winds up doing it again then I'll be done with him too. But he deserves a second chance just like Cooper got.

Bates has not brought anything to this team in a long time. This is a new team, and he has not been a part of it. He will not be missed.

You tell that to the people that lost mothers, fathers and children to a drunk driver and see how far that argument gets you with them

I must have missed the part of the article that said that he was in and accident and killed someones mother, father or child.

We don't know the details. It doesn't take much to blow a 1.0

I get the point. all I'm saying is he made a mistake. I'm pretty sure everyone in here has made a mistake. It doesn't mean it should cost you your job.

We don't know...... everyone is calling for his head. It might have been as simple as having 2 glasses of wine with dinner. It didn't say anywhere that he was piss drunk falling out of the car.

I personally don't agree with drinking and driving and would never do it myself. But I did it once or twice in college. I feel extremely lucky I didn't kill myself or anyone else. I made an error in judgement and learned from it.

I just don't think we should be forming a lynching party without knowing all the details.
