BLOCK RULED ILLEGAL: WR Keenan McCardell has been fined $12,500 for what the league ruled was an illegal chop block on Carolina DE Kavika Pittman. The league on Wednesday notified McCardell of the penalty, which was the second-highest fine he could have received. The maximum is $15,000.

Pittman tore his ACL on the play and is out for the season. McCardell argued that the hit was legal because Pittman wasn't engaged with another blocker at the time.

``I'm a little disappointed in the fine,'' McCardell said. ``I'm going to look at [the play] again. From what they said, he was engaged. He wasn't engaged. So I'm going to plead my case and see what happens.''

Other issues the Panthers asked the league to look into were the scuffle between RT Kenyatta Walker and Carolina DE Julius Peppers and a penalized block above the waist by Bucs WR Joe Jurevicius in the first quarter.

League officials will announce other potential fines today.

I was just about to ask about league review/fines, thanks. I want to hear what they have to say about Kenyatta's hands. I saw that we are changing rotation and will rest Peppers and Rucker separately since Rasmussen is more of a ST type than DE.

Panthers should hand out T-shirts with #92 on them going into the Tampa game November 9th just to remind the Pewter Mafia to behave....

I'd like to see them repeatedly show all of the cheap shots the Bucs took throughout the opening ceremony and halftime.

    Exactly.

McCardell, suspended for the rest of the season, without pay.

His dumb ass probably thought engaged meant he wasn't going to get married any time soon.

It would delay the start of the game, as well as the start of the 2nd half.

The funny thing is, this would actually be legal.
It was clear from that moment that the McCardell block wasn't. It was clear that the Bucs were dirty all day - I don't know what made Pep pull a guy's helmet off him but I bet it wasn't a knock knock joke. I know that whatever almost made Pep and Walker fight wasn't a fight over who was the better American Idol. And anybody else see Kris Jenkins get hit in the nuts by Coleman when he jumped offsides? He had to take himself out of the game for that.
