    Former Carolina Hurricanes coach Paul Maurice has been interviewed by a 'number of teams' about coaching vacancies, according to the News Observer.

    "They've asked for discretion, and at this point I'm going to honour that," Maurice told the newspaper.

    "I'm just moving through the process. I think each team has a different time frame in mind. I'm not sure how quickly they want to progress from here."

    Newspaper reports have linked Maurice with the Phoenix Coyotes, New York Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets.

    Maurice was fired by the Hurricanes in December after eight years, including the 2002 run to the Stanley Cup finals.

    I'd love to see him get signed by the Blow Jackets--just so I can laugh when he gets owned by the Preds on a regular basis. :D

    Of course, I'd laugh if he got signed by the Rags too. Jagr would SO make him his bitch.

    The only available coaches that could take that job would be Keenan, Nolan or (I can't believe I'm saying this) Melrose. Those guys can handle the egos that are on that team. "It's my way or the highway". The Rangers need to dump all the names and start from scratch. They really could learn from Ottawa and the Bolts.

    But they won't, because Slats lost his mojo sometime around June of 1990. He hasn't made a good trade since.
