I've probably seen more of Clarrett than most folks here (based on where I am).

I wouldn't have wanted him before this latest incident. Now, definitely no way.

I feel bad for the guy. Obviously he's responsible for his own failings, but I still think he was manipulated by people wanting to make money off of him. It's a sad indictment of the way we use up athletes and then throw them away when we have no more use for them.

Now they say that the bartender called the guy Maurice and two witnesses said only after looking at a picture that it was Carett. Reports say he was in LA that day.

It's extremely difficult to actually pursue a legitimate education given how much time you spend on football, and from my own experience, many if not most of the athletes have their homework and projects done for them by "tutors," so I'm not sure they actually learn much at all.
True. There's no question that it's a great ride while it lasts, but what about afterwards? Does living on top of the world for four years or less make the subsequent fall to obscurity even more painful?
I think you have a misguided view of what happens to most former athletes, especially those who never made it as a professional. They don't have money, they don't have an education, and they spend the rest of their lives in some deadend jobs having people come up and ask "What happened?" or talking about how great they might have been. Many find their feet and go on to live happy lives, but many are also destroyed by the experience.
