    I doubt they throw Stafford out there at the start of this year. They have Culpepper to beat up through '09.

    It's mind-boggling. He's coming off of a nice year and all, but he's completed less than 60% of his passes in college. I'm not even sure why he's a first round player, let alone the #1 overall pick. I think he's a guy with good physical attributes and can have a decent career, but that contract pretty much ensures that he'll be a bust.

    And yeah, the drinking won't help either.

    The Lions are insane. No rookie is worth 12-13 million a year. Especially an unproven QB.

    *edit*
    Just heard on an NFL.com video that Stafford's deal is more than Albert Haynesworth, the league's proven best DT. That is ridiculous and if I was an owner, I would absolutely refuse to pay it.
