This is the first video I've seen, and it's telling. There were no-shit FIVE defenders on Barnidge on that play, which tells me Moore stared him down to a ridiculous level. Good God, Scherer needs to break him of that NOW.

Even so, it looks to me like Barnidge had a step on the nearest ones, and if Moore had led him a little further he could've come down with the ball in the end zone. But he didn't put enough mustard on it, and it floated. That, combined with Grant making an all-world play on the ball resulted in the pick.

Someone needs to tell our QBs that 89 is NOT 7-11. He ain't always open.

Once again, Moore stared him down. He had LaFell on the weak side, who was covered tight but should've been given a chance to make the play. It's high risk - high reward, though, because if the DB makes the pick, he's probably going for six the other way.

Rosario was coming back, and had his man beat as well. Maybe it doesn't go for the score, but it would've at least been inside the 2.

Don't know where Jarrett ended up, but a jump ball in the corner of the end zone might've been a safer choice, too.

Stewart was a check-down, but who knows. We know the dude can break tackles. Maybe he gets in, too.

Overall, I see two major problems -- Moore staring receivers down, and an utter lack of trust in anyone not wearing #89.

I got pissed at 3 as well, and his vision could be better. But it is easier to see an open WR from the upper deck that on the field where Gross and Bernadeau look like subway turnstiles. I think it all has to go together. My point is this: They put him in an unwinnable situation when they bunched the formation, abandoned the running game, and started asking him to make plays with his arm. 1st and goal at the 4 and we throw passes? Who does Davidson think we are? Moore is a functional QB, but until the line blocks and the running game gets going, he is going to struggle--what QB wouldn't? I can think of 5 or 6 who could rise above it, but not many. When a QB is not reading like he should or missing WRs who are open (people at the game said there were no open WRs), it means he is in survival mode and not attack mode. Big difference.

Blame one player and you make a mistake. He will get better, but don't expect Manning or Brady to show up.

I was actually getting Jeff Lewis flashbacks during this pre-season. Not that I was scared we were going to cut Matt Moore but at the time I couldn't believe we cut Jeff Lewis. Has that ever happened before, where a team went into pre-season with one starting QB and ended up cutting him before the season?
