Interviewed for the raider job last week…went so well he pulled his name from consideration…talked with millen yesterday about being the OC…interviews with marenelli today.

    :woohoo:

Then again, it is 50/50 whether he takes an OC job or sits the year out.

Ten guaranteed turf games a year, they never met a receiver they didn't like.. I think he'd probably be great up there as OC.

I think Martz would make a solid OC. I don't want him having full control, but when it comes to offensive design, he's pretty damned good.

I feel like he's too good to be an OC at this point, because despite his apparent defensive negligence when there's not a good DC around already, he's still one of the top minds in the game for offense. He shouldn't be Buddy Ryan'd.

    peter king's article today:

    5. I think Mike Martz will be the best hire Matt Millen has made in five years. Assuming it gets done-- and I hear Martz is enthused about the job -- whoever plays quarterback for the Lions in 2006 is going to be the happiest man on the face of the earth after one minicamp with Martz.

    ---

interesting to see how his ego will work with marenelli's no BS approach. he'll probably make more than marenelli's 2mil/year.

Maybe he doesn't want the stress of a HC job. OC would probably feel like a vacation by comparison.

Does that mean assuming he can land Martz or assuming Martz does them any good?

I took that to mean the deal getting done. Best hire in five years? How about ever, assuming Millen leaves him alone.
