    The Steelers released him. He might make a nice addition to out mix. He has been a very good blocking tight end.

    Now that we are not getting Manu maybe we ought to have Bruener in for a visit. He would be cheap and is a good blocking tight end.

    I guess if all we really need is a big tight end who can block well then we can draft a guy and reasonably expect him to fill that role.

    I thought Wiggins was our best TE last year. Did have some drops. Yes. So did Proehl, a sure-handed aging vet. So did Moose, and Smitty led the team.

    But he really showed he could block down the stretch, better than Mangum IMO.

    With that said, and something I've said before, Mangum at that price is fine. I don't like Kris but as a backup, he's not that bad. SO then it comes down to the improvement of the starter.
