I'm curious what you guys think... my opinion is thatright now contraction would be a good quick fix and help a LOT of problems in baseball as a whole... for one it would help with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and also it would help the problem of lack of pitching... (with 2 less teams it would HAVE to help somewhat)... but in the end a Salary Cap would be necessary... the only problem is I'm afraid that as soon as the owners mention Salary Cap the players would go on Strike Again... thoughts? comments? suggestions?

Let them strike and that two teams for contraction will jump up to six or eight. Works for me. I'm tired of watching AAA pitchers getting taken down town by steroid enhanced freaks. I mean think about it, name one team that has more than three legit MLB pitchers in their rotation other than the Yankees. You can't.

The owners should just agree to a salary cap anyway. If the players dont want to play under salary cap rules then they can go out and start their own league or they could get a 9-5 40hr a week job. I am sure there are plenty of baseball players willing to play under a salary cap rule. the players and owners have to see what is happening to the game, everyone else does.

Hell, Bear I say cut both leagues by the four teams. Combine both New York teams, both Chicago teams, Oakland and San Francisco, and Los Angeles and Anahiem. There's your contraction. Then to top it off declare all the players FA's and set a salary cap. If they don't like it, they can go to Japan and fight for the two roster spots for foreign players on each team there.

nope...the problem is all the good pitching is on a certain few teams that can AFFORD them which makes the rest of the league look watered down...

dur... glad you were here to help with that allmighty informative post... no that ISN'T the key problem... its one of baseball's many small problems but fixing BIG problem would fix that as well
