NEW YORK -- Charlotte Hornets center Jamaal Magloire was suspended for one game without pay and fined $7,500 by the NBA on Wednesday for a flagrant foul against Orlando's Tracy McGrady.

Magloire will miss Game 1 of the Hornets' second-round series against either New Jersey or Indiana.

The Charlotte center was ejected for hitting McGrady in the head in the fourth quarter of the Hornets' 102-85 series-ending victory over the Magic on Tuesday night.

"My intention isn't to hurt anybody," Magloire said Tuesday night. "I haven't had a flagrant all year."

McGrady led the Magic with 35 points and six assists.

Yep, and after we win Game 1 the league will start figuring out a way to keep Baron Davis off the floor. Sad, really.

that is a bad call by the NBA.

they might as well institute the "no hard fouls allowed" rule.

thats all it was. a hard foul. something the NBA has done for years.

The whole Orlando team and crowd were just po'd because McGrady had guaranteed a win.

speaking of the game - did anybody see the play where Baron Davis broke the ankles of Pat Garrity?

talk about inrtent to harm.

Agreed Wossa & HPCat - at least Jamaal got his "money's worth". Poor Elden usually gets called for touch fouls. The only way McGrady would have been injured was if his own ego slammed into him... Guess he has the Ewing curse? Loved it.

I don't know how many ankles Baron has broken this season. How about last year against the Heat in the playoffs? Now THAT was funny...

This is weak. Suspended for a game? I thought the ejection was lame. Call it a flagrant, but c'mon kicking him out? But given the way the game was going, I can see how somebody in that moment could decide to toss him. What I don't get it is a clinical review could find any reason to keep him out of game 1 of the 2nd round.

It's not like he threw a punch or something. This is the fucking playoffs, not a sunday afternoon church game. Sigh.

I bet K-Mart is shakin in his boots right now.
