Richard wasn't a "follower". He was there before the others. I think he truly let Ben kill him because it was necessary. Its all part of a larger plan. He HAD to die so one of the chosen would take his place.

Yes, but didnt' Jacob mention he made the boat come to the island? Why he would destroy his statue house I have no idea.

But Miles said that Jacob had such high hopes for Ben up until the moment before he stabbed him.

Good ol Miles, hearing dead people and shit.

we all assumed it was, but jacob said he's been bringing people to the island for a while -- and back then, that would mean by boat. so, it was probably one of many boats brought there by jacob.

i think jacob "let" ben kill him like obi wan "let" vader kill him.

also, as miles said, he was holding out hope until the end that ben wouldn't do it.

So the whole show is based on the island being hell, or keeping people in the real world safe from hell?? Weird stuff. I'm not sure this is the way they originally planned on ending this series. I'm thinking the ending is gonna be pretty anti-climactic.

The sideways timeline may well be what happens not when the cork is removed but what happens when you smash the wine bottle ie. destroy the island.

If Suzanne Pleshette was still living, I would be worried that Whidmore would wake up in bed with her on the last episode.

I'm terrified they're gonna make it not worth our while.

the guy killed on the ISLAND was cooper/sawyer (locke's father). the guy he was sent to kill in australia wasn't "sawyer" (dunno if he knew the cooper name yet).

cooper couldn't con just anybody into giving him a kidney cuz he needed a proper match. who better than a son? besides, the whole reason locke was told to kill cooper on the island was because he was his father, so i think we can assume it cooper was indeed locke's father.

the "you needed a father figure" was probably just a matter of how cooper conned him -- ie, he stepped in as such a figure to gain his confidence.
