I'm not sure he'd be any better on that side either, but drafting Kalil looks like a plausible scenario. Unfortunately that means continuing to ignore the defense.

Respectfully curious on where in your opinion the defense needs upgrading, and in no way is that a challenge, I think we need to clean house, just wondering who would be left in your mind.

Moving Gross to RT might be the lesser of two evils. I can't imagine Hurney getting rid of him completely.

DE - Charles Johnson is a cornerstone and for the most part living up to his contract (lolme), but I'd rather Hardy be a frequently used backup. Keiser has actually impressed me as well, so I'd keep him both as an infrequently used backup and a guy who can hopefully become a core special teamer. So really you just need one legitimate starter added to the mix.

DT - Scrap pretty much everything. Fua can be a rotational nose, but none of the guys currently on the roster should be starting, and I don't think McClain should stay at all.

LB - Anderson is a foundation piece and I think Beason will still be above average when he returns since he's not just about athleticism. Obviously you can't count on TD anymore, but you might as well bring him back if he wants to keep playing. Applewhite has also proven himself as a rush LB when we go to the 3-4 looks, but Norwood can pack his bags. I think Connor gets an offer to start somewhere, so they'll need to add a versatile backup who can take over when Davis gets hurt and hopefully contribute on special teams.

CB - Gamble is decent, but not ideally suited for this type of defense. Having someone like Claiborne on the outside actually would allow the rest of the defense to be more aggressive, although that makes me nervous. I like Munnerlyn & Stanford as nickel backs, but this group obviously needs a second legitimate starter. I had hoped for more out of Butler, but he's sort of a poor man's Gamble.

S - Sherrod Martin is decent, but this group needs a major upgrade in both talent and execution. Safety play is going to be critical to the Rivera/McDermott defense, and right now they just don't have the guys to pull it off. Ray-Ray Armstrong or Robert Lester could be possibilities in the second round if they enter the draft, but I really want a defensive tackle at that spot. Tyvon Branch is someone to look at in free agency.

Kinda sucks that Godfrey is a part of our "core." Don't know the details of his contract, but I'd assume we are stuck with him at least for the immediate future.

    Thanks Hurney (you big tard)!!!
