Did Elway lose some credibility with the Champ Bailey situation?

Except Champ actually was a shell of his former self, and cutting him freed up lots of cap room. As noted ad nauseum, cutting Steve costs Carolina an extra $2 million.

What nobody here is even considering is maybe there is something behind the scenes. A player and his agent are going to publicly skew their side. A GM cant divulge alot of things as a matter of professionalism. You people are so naive to think what was said at the combine was more a moronic statement about a beloved veteran than a shot across the bow in reaction to something we as fans may not be privy to. Who knows? You think he or his agent are going to tell you anything negative? Like the old saying goes: "When a coach/GM starts thinking like a fan he is soon to join them."

Good players can be found on the cheap or in the draft. So far, Gettleman has delivered. We got some pretty good roleplayers last year. We still are in cap hell thanks to Hurney. Give the ************ a chance before you cry the sky is falling.

 

Well we don't know for sure yet if cutting Smith is/was the plan. Could be that Gettleman assumed he could find a trade. We'll see.

 

I don't see how a 6th/7th round pick makes this any better, plus a trade means you can't split the cap hit like a June 1st cut, so the 2014 cap situation would get worse.

 

Steve Smith did get a little distracting last yr. I did get annoyed with the ball spinning and 2 yrd rants. Getting all up in every DBs head with meaningless smash talk...I mean come ON!
