MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Lennox Lewis showed the bully who was boss.

Using a masterful left jab and landing his right hand at will, Lewis battered a befuddled MikeTyson before stopping him with a crashing right hand in the eighth round to keep his heavyweight titles Saturday night.

Tyson was bleeding from cuts over his eyes and from the nose when Lewis landed a punch that sent him sprawling on his back in Lewis' corner. Tyson tried to get up at the count of eight, getting to one knee, but was counted out.

It was a sudden end to a dominating performance in which Lewis overwhelmed the former champion from the opening bell.

Referee Eddie Cotton counted Tyson out at 2:25 of the eighth round.

Dude just watched the fight myself and Tyson was a walking punching bag for all 7 or 8 rounds. Tyson tried to headhunt while Lewis jabbed him quite well and often. Lewis was too tall and had too much reach to let Tyson enter. I think Lewis' sparring partner could have done better than Tyson. I personally think that Tyson has finished his career with this fight and that he won't be able to draw the big superpurses anymore. I was most surprised that after the fight Tyson made it feel like a family reunion with all the asskissing he was doing to Lewis.

Tyson loses.....but he'll be back!


On ESPN the interview with Tyson, he was very happy to have fought, and gave credit to Lewis for being the better fighter.

The announcer asked him if all that crazy stuff he was doing was just to sell tickets, Tyson's relpy was"I did a good job" and he smiled a little. He said the fight was good for boxing, boxing needed to have this fight and boxing had been really good to him. There was little reference to fighting again, and I think they might. Holyfield right now is the #2 in line for the title shot. We'll see if he wants to fight Lewis.

I still like Tyson, I think he has had to overcome a helluva lot more than most, and he made it bact to the Championship fight after 12 years. I don't think he's done. And I don't think he's az crazy as everybody thinks.

I can't stand Tyson, but I hate Lewis as much. Where is the next great American fighter? I am disgusted! I wish Roy Jones Jr was a Heavy weight because he would rule. Tyson is washed up now. I did think that he handled the loss very gracefully, though.
