LenDale on BDSSP

Last night I caught Lendale White on Best Damn Sports Show Period. They had brought Chauncey Billups back on because he and LenDale are cousins. White seemed very laid back and humble to a point, not like a guy who is trying to toy with the NFL and is a headcase. John Salley brought up the point that White and Fox had dinner before the pro day and LenDale said that Fox was very up front with him and honest. Fox told him that if Carolina drafts him, then they would be looking for another back in four years because they would have already gotten all of the miles out of him that they could have. Salley said that was the best information that he has ever heard a coach tell a prospective player because it was so honest.

 

was he saying that in "that's why we won't take you" mode?

 

I took it as, be prepared for alot of carries. Leave the ego at the door because you wont be our only back. Oh yeah, we want you and are prepared to trade up.

 

i doubt fox takes him to dinner to tell him we won't take you. probably more like you mite as well relax and take it easy now cuz if we get ya, we're gonna work your ass off four the next four years. it'll be interesting to hear Mag's input as this has always been a sore point with him ... using our backs up quick.

 

Holy cow. I have no idea what to make of that at all.

 

I Could them waiting to see if he gets by Denver's first pick, then making a move to get up ahead of Denver's second pick at #22 which would cost us our third. I'm not sure how I'd feel about yet.

 

Saw it and thought he looked soft. Don't know what to think of the Fox quote either. Would have liked to have heard any backstage conversation between White and ex Panther/USC alum Peete.
