Somebody in the pros got penalized, and it was this past season. But damn if I can remember.

    Wait, did Foster get penalized?

I thought the exact same thing when I saw it. :)

Polamalu, among others. And Troy let him know he was there a couple of times. Jerramy got jacked up more than once.

I'm about 75% sure I saw the very tip of the ball cross the plane while he was in the air, but was pushed back by the time he hit the turf. But I'm talking just barely. Like less than an inch. Probably less than half an inch. I almost wish TDs like that didn't even count. Seems less than, somehow.

I don't have much to point to for evidence, but I have a strong gut feeling the officiating was overtly one-sided. At the end of the game, I half expected Shaun Alexander or Jerramy Stevens to tell reporters, "I know the whole world loves Jerome Bettis, but damn, don't take the game away from us." I'm not usually that into conspiracy theories, but the league got its storybook ending it lost when the Colts were eliminated, didn't it?

What do they care who wins? Who gets there, sure.

Because fairytale endings like the one we saw yesterday equate to bigger ratings, especially with the female demographic. Drama = ratings = $$$

He didnt get it. Its like when all the homers were swearing that Stephen Davis got the TD against Wash a few years back when he didnt. I was glad it happened, glad it was ruled a TD. But it wasnt.

Ben's team won. Okay, good fo rhte Steelers, but that doesnt change the fact that it wasnt a TD.

Similar situations happened three times this year, including the Pats/Denver game. They never, ever that I have seen, ever have changed a ruling on the field in one of those situations, because if you remember high school science class, you know you can't trust depth perception of 3D objects on a 2D screen.

The only way to get replay would be to have a camera on the LOS somehow, not two feet back. Right now, the call on the field is the only set of eyes on the field that is looking straight down the sideline to see if the plane is broken.

Agree. I cant fault not overturning that play. I certainly CAN fault, however, the line judge running over and not signaling TD, until he saw Ben laying past the marker long after his knees were down.

I just think in a situation where you arent clear, dont make up shit as you go. Call a fourth down, and let the Steelers challenge.

But then again, the Bears got some ridiculous benefits of the doubt against us, and certainly one in the playoff game where the ref wasnt sure, so he just ruled a goddamn TD.

THank God, that was so fucking absurd, that it was overturned.

BUt yeah, we need something right there on the GL, so we can be sure.
