James said he lost 12 pounds, dropping to 302, on the first day of training camp. James, however, did return to practice Sunday.

3:34 PT: As an update to previous reports, Steve Reed for the Gaston Gazette reports the Carolina Panthers began experimenting with the shotgun formation in practice Sunday. The formation should help QB Chris Weinke, who played in the formation about 70 percent of the time while at Florida State. Offensive coordinator Dan Henning doesn’t know how often the Panthers will utilize the shotgun formation, as a lot depends on the exchange from C Jeff Mitchell and Weinke.

refresher time here. I knew at one time, but the info was kinda kicked out the back when something new came in. What exactly does the PUP list entail? It's basically a way to carry extra roster positions until a player is able to return, but they can't return until after x many games, right?

I believe players on the PUP list can return at anytime. They do not count towards the roster until they are taken off that list, at which time they have 24 hours to create that room on the roster.

I think by week 10 or so they have to be either activated, released, or put on the diabled list for the rest of the season.

yep. they get to practice the week before they would need to be decided upon for reactivation. Don't see why Dee Brown wasn't put on PUP.

I was wondering what was up with Humphrey. I didn't remember us signing him but I was looking up who was wearing 96 and noticed Humphrey on the team roster. Rokky.
