I agree it's a bit strange, but I'm not sure June could be as effective on most other teams. Maybe a few cover 2 teams will give him a good deal. He's just not big. He's smaller than some strong safeties. I don't think he would be a good fit here.

Well, the Seahawks got Deon Grant. Paid him a boatload of cash too (6 years, 30 million).

That takes them out of the market to re-sign Hamlin, but blows the lid off the market value for safeties.

" the Seahawks stepped up and made Grant the third-highest-paid safety in football, giving him a six-year deal worth more than $30 million a year.
To get the deal done, they gave him a signing bonus that topped the $11.1 million to Roy Williams of the Dallas Cowboys. Though the specifics weren't available, Grant is believed to received the biggest signing bonus ever given to an NFL safety. "

Good for Deon. I wouldn't have paid that, though.

He's not worth that, but the only guy I felt really got a solid, honest deal worth his contract was Fletcher-Baker's $5 mil a year.

Seattle must not have watched Deon play lately. He's solid, but not the 3rd best safety in football. And yes, this probably will make it more difficult to sign Hamlin (if we're interested) so we might go ahead and re-up Shaun Williams for a year.
