They can use him in different packages. Im not suggesting he not play at all but Beason is the better MLB right now, if hes heathy. I just dont think he will be completely healthy until later this season, if at all. So my thinking is to have LK ready to play the most pivotal position on defense. If he proves better than beason(a tall order) then so be it let him start and move beason, as unlikely as it seems.

    damn man. nice memory.

    http://www.thisboardrocks.com/forum/f19/post-draft-thoughts-127498/

i was also with the group arguing after we drafted him his best position was going to be mlb. " ... Beason's profiles suggest his best position as a pro is MLB. I am hopeful that Beason is a stud at MLB. Shaw I am hopeful will be a decent backup at MLB ... but have my doubts he will ever be much more than that. Just based on the video clips he looks like a better Seward/Choo Choo but not much else. I'm thinking our future is Davis (SLB), Beason (MLB), and Anderson WLB (... year who I think looks much more natural at WLB).

i've always maintained that Beason's best position was MLB. but like when we had Connor and didn't have a good option at WLB, i believed that it would be better to move Beason outside than Connor (in order to get our three best lbs on the field). it's not saying a lot, but John Fox agreed as that was how he lined them up.

right now we have 2 awesome mlbs (depending on how Beason recovers) and no decent WLB. unlike someone who said Beason was awful at WLB, i was pleasantly surprised by his play on the outside and thought he very good out there. i don't think Luke has the speed to keep a back from turning the corner. maybe he will be able to make up for it with smarts ... much as i like him i have my doubts that he won't be a liability on the outside. if Beason hasn't lost his quickness, i'd rather them go ahead and move him to the outside. Luke is pretty awesome on the inside. if Beason has lost some quickness, then I'd be more in favor of keeping him in the middle. I got a feeling that either way we will see a lot of Luke in the middle this year.

it's tuff becuz Beason obviously would rather play at his best position of MLB. which is why I was shocked they took Luke. love them both. we will be much better on D if both can play and be on the field at the same time.

I liked Beason better at WLB way back - he proved me wrong pretty quickly once at MLB. Him revisiting WLB just reinforced it. He just wasn't that good there. If the best of Beason is at MLB, and Kuechly is what he has been weakside, I don't think I'll complain.

I agreed. My only concern is Keuchly being overwhelmed in trying to learn two positions like that as a rookie, but I don't think that'll ruin him either. I think when its all said and done, Keuchly will be the better overall player even at MLB, but for now that's not the case.

I'm pretty confident that Kuechly would be a better MLB than Beason right now, but as noted I don't think you can make that move yet for locker room reasons. #52 has busted his ass working back from the injury and is the leader on defense. The rook has to wait his turn, like it or not.

it's hard to say, in hypotheticals. I think he's fantastic at whatever they put him at, and if they had a two-down ILB inside him, that hasn't fazed him so far. It works for him at WLB, Beason works at MLB, and that's what seems to work for everyone. I don't know that this team is better served flipping that, but more than that I'd rather not go through the necessity of what it might mean to find out.

The Keek has intangibles and instincts that Beason just ain't got. He has stuff that can't be coached and once he is the beneficiary of NFL level coaching and gets up to NFL level speed he will be ready to take over for Beason . .. whether Beas is still healthy and 100% able or not.

Beason better come back close to full strength because the team isn't getting out from under that contract until 2015.

I disagree with keekly being the better player right now due to his lack of expirience. The split second decisions the mike has to make depend alot on correctly reading the offense. Physically, you may be right.
