    I think he's an old dood who knows he's close to the end of his life, probably doesn't feel all that great and having just been throught the heart thing, realizing he's got a team that needs help, is in cap trouble with dumb contract status and probably will never win a SB in his lifetime.

    and he knows he'd dug a lot of this hole with his hires/sons.

    And then Jake would bring back Hurney as GM, and hire Fox as team president once he's done with coaching.
