he's the sort of guy who's going to make you pay in the open field. We'll still have to see him push a pile, of course. But while Davis could be a battering ram, he got 1400 yards because he had wheels, if you gave him a seam he was going to get you playmaking. That's what we're getting, moreso than a guy that plays like he's 240. We're not getting just a big back, we're getting a very talented back.

He moved the pile enough to get a 4th and 1.

Or the line did. But I'd rather 28 be back there in those situations than 34. For that matter, I'd rather 45 or 37 be in there in those scenarios than 34.

I don't guess that really matters- leg drive is leg drive, a hole is a hole. But yeah, he can do that. The idea that Shelton should've been a short-yardage back was awful because he wasn't tough. He was just big. If you're big, and you hit the line tall and tenative, that's not going to help.

I saw that play and I don't think he moved anyone. Honestly I found it concerning that our blockers didn't get more push. It was fortunate that we converted because when Stewart hit the wall of defenders, he went down. But one thing Stewart does that DW doesn't is that he has more "wiggle" in contact. I don't know the best way to describe it, but Stewart twists and moves his body when he's wrapped up and it sometimes allows him to prevent the tackler from getting leverage. There was one play I recall where he was hit before the first down marker, but twisted his body and because of that movement was able to drive himself forward for another couple of yards.

I now what you mean - and honestly, it seems like everyone does that better than Williams.

Unrelated, I'm so glad Foster is gone. I loved him early in his career but it's nice to see runners not skip around in the backfield.

By the time we coached him out of that, he lacked any burst. Last year by midseason he was used up to the point of him just putting his head down and getting what he could. He ran really hard in that stretch, funny since most of his career he could make plays but wasn't good at getting the tough yards.

Chuck Norris stands to the side when he sees Jonathon Stewart walking down an alley.
