This isn't about his ability as a coach, it's about a personality flaw.

That was his knock - but he seems confident and more importantly very patient in the pocket. He has been right on the entire preseason. Peete looks like shit though, so giving him the job by default just sucks.

He is definately more fit as well. I'd say that it appears the light has come on for him and again, he is really looking like the best QB here. I'd give him the shot he deserves.

Silver - thanks for the link! Just submitted this one:

    Coach Fox and Henning...

It seems very obvious to me the Chris Weinke is the best QB on this team at the moment. Too me, playing it safe by going with Peete will cost this team games. Weinke is the only QB consistently putting points on the board in the preseason and he has looked far more confident and accurate as a passer this season. The Panthers definitely seem to be a much more dangerous offensive team with Chris Weinke running things. What would be the reasoning involved with leaving Rodney Peete as the starter? Do you feel Peete has performed well in the preseason? Thanks

(in my best John Fox voice)

    Mr. Shocker,

I feel that ALL the quarterbacks have done well in preseason. I am pleased with the way they have ALL played ,and I see no reason to change the depth chart at this time. I am going to pick the best QB that gives us the best chance to win. Thanks for your support.

    Sincerely,

    John Fox
    Carolina Panthers Head Coach

I still would not have drafted Leftwich. I still think the running game is more important. If Weinkie were not outplaying Peete I would not have much to say. I just dont understand why you keep Peete in when Weinkie looks so much better. We do not do this at other positions. Brezinski is finding this out quick. Maybe Peete has some pictures of Fox with a woman and is blackmailing him???

But there seriously needs to be. If John Fox goes with Peete this whole year, then he has no intentions of winning. Peete can only give you the same 7 wins as last year and he didn't do anything to win any of those. You can't rely so heavily on the defense. There's going to be a game where we get down by 14 and Peete doesn't have the ability to bring us back. He is inept. He has never been a good quarterback. I can only hope this is all a big bluff and he will make a change next week. How can he say "I've been pleased with all of our quarterbacks" when Peetes QB rating is 51.1? He said he was pleased with Weinke but not to the point where he would make a change. He's 22-28 with a QB rating of 116.1!! What does he have to do? I know he has done it against 2nd and 3rd team defenses, but he has also done it with our 2nd and 3rd team offensive players. I would be happy with Delhomme, he's shown some flashes. Just not Peete. He flat out SUCKS!!

I too am glad that our team has improved and Fox is certainly is a big part of it but let's not get carried away with the genius label and the he knows more than we fans. I strongly suspect that more than half this board could have coached this offense to next to the last place in the NFL. So far he seems well on his way for a repeat (no pun intended) performance.

I seriously doubt that many would have won 7 games. Fox and Henning did very well with the cards they were dealt IMO. Before the season last year, most were hoping for 4-5 wins. He exceeded most expectations and did it without mortgaging our future. Now, everyone seems to expect we should be suddenly contending for the SB. No one has called Fox a genius but I do like the direction the team has moved and will continue to give him the benefit of the doubt while we are improving and until he royally pisses me off, which he has yet to do ... though not getting leftwich 'bout threw me over the edge. In hindsite, Gross looks much better than I expected and I think we got a pretty decent DT project with the fourth we would have had to throw in. Still think it was a mistake, but not as gross as I first thought but still pretty gross.

    Gross should be competent.

Before we start sucking his dick, he has given up a sack, and the O line still hasn's been dominanant against anything other than the poor defensive line of the Skins.

I assume you were talking about Manning who we gave up a pick for.

i liked the pick, and the trade, because we frigging needed that player, and there was absolutely nothing behind him of any kind of note from a big time program.
