Those were my thoughts as I woke up this morning. Last night, I was just sick. I really had thought the "I see no reason to change the depth chart" was just coachspeak, and he was going to give Weinke a real chance. Apparently not.

Maybe we're wrong. But if we're not, at least we know JR will take action. For all his faults, and he's made some real dumb moves, he wants to win badly, and he senses the feelings of the fans.

If they thought the fan base shrank in Seifert's last season, bench or trade Weinke, do worse then we did last year, and we'll be called The Blacked Out Black Cats next season.

weinke looked dang sharp again last night. the main thing i've noticed is his

    1) pocket presence- the ability to stand in the pocket and anticipate his recievers getting open or vacating the pocket when nothing is there.

    2) hitting recievers in stride- all his throws seem to hit the recievers right in between the sternum to the mid abdominal area, right in the hands- this guy really has improved his acurracy.

To me, the argument that weinke is playing against 2nd/3rd string players is the only question that is really knawing at me- can weinke play against a 1st string defense while maintaining his stoic controlled play? I'd love to see that next week. Delhomme, to me, has not showed the same confidence and control that weinke has- but delhomme has spent more time against better defenses than weinke has so far.

the only thing I can figure is that Peete and wife throw the best Super Bowl party in the USA. Who wouldn't give up the Super Bowl for that? Well the fans wouldn't but that's hollywood for ya.

It's true that Weinke played aganst the 2nd team but when Peete was out there he had all day aganst the Packer's first team and on that play to Smith he threw about 10 yards short and almost got another pick. If he had an arm that would have been a touchdown.

I was sick last night and I am sick this morning. I don't understand and I wish someone could explain to me what is going on with the thinking of Henning and Fox. As fans, the stats and the play on the field seem to hit us between the eyes. What are the coaches seeing that we are missing? What is the justification that Peete is still the starter?
The updated QB ratings have Weinke at 116.1, Delhomme at 70.0, and Peete at 51.1.

    I'm thinkin' that's what he's gonna do, I really am...please don't tell me I'm in a dream world here.

Fox has made most of the right decisions so far. Maybe he's trying to juice that last little bit of motivation out of Chrs, or maybe he's just trying to psych out the media and our opponents.

Say no more... Peete's done nothing in preseason, at the very least his ratings should be a dominant #2 among the QBs.

Years ago I used to like the Lions a little. They were never my first team but I liked them and wanted to see Barry Sanders do well. Wayne Fontes kept sticking with Peete when Erik Kramer was clearly the better QB. I think it hurt the Lion's chances of ever winning it all while they had the best running back ever. I thought that frustration ended years ago. I never dreamed that it would get worse when he started leading "my team". I understood it last year because Weinkie looked lost in the preseaon and we did not have Delhomme. This year I do not see it at all. Take Weinkie out of the equation and Delhomme should start. He has looked much better than Peete too.

The only explanation I can think of is that certain players are big fans of Peete. I have heard Moose say things that make me think that. Peete will not finish the season as the starter but I hope he is not gone after we are out of playoff contention.

You guys get proactive and start raising hell. That's what I'm doing. E-mail the coach. Fox might not read any of them but He might read some. Here's the link - I already sent them 2 scathing e-mails about Peete and Henning's performance so far. Do it!!! It can't hurt. If he gets all kinds of negative input from the fans, maybe it will influence his thinking.
