    Needed a linebacker.
But silly drama over nothing, and to do with a player who's become marginal?

Fuck if we don't have the best, and deepest, front 7 in NFL.

    no doubt.
Is it overkill? Two backup ends who could start, even though Peppers played 88% of snaps? Granted, LB depth after last year is somewhat understandable.

The thing that concerns me, of course, is we probably have the worst secondary in the division, and bottom third of the league, IMO.
Should obviously get better, but most of the people involved in that secondary won't be around by the time it's good - maybe Manning, Gamble, Minter at most.

Seems to be inline with Fox's tenure. It'll be VERY interesting to see how the Manning/Gamble/Wesley trio turns out. That could be a strong group.

Aside from Minter, Safety is rough.

    It is what it is.

Deep deep at DL, LB, WR, RB. Deeper than I remember any position being in a long time, and we're deep at 4.

I'll take a guy that led his team in tackles and makes a better fit for your defense than his old team for small $$$$$. If nothing else he gives them a solid back-up. I say by years end he's starting in the middle with Dhani Jones and Mark Simanou (sp) outside. Nate Wayne becomes the back-up.

Held up last year, and according to what I've read passed the physical with flying colors. He shreded that sucker pretty good two years ago, but hopefully that is behind him.
