Bummer. From panthers.com

The absence of several players will also impact the workouts. Foremost is quarterback Chris Weinke, who will sit out the sessions because of arthroscopic shoulder surgery last month. Also missing the workouts will be wide receiver Patrick Jeffers (knee) and defensive end John Milem (knee) while tight end Wesley Walls (knee) and offensive guard Kevin Donnalley (knee) will be limited in work.

Jeffers is out, while Walls and Donnalley are in. It ain't looking good for Jeffers at all. I think he may be cut in June. I really don't see why he wouldn't be. That really sucks.

I have the same feeling about him. He even said he'd probably never return to 100%. He'd save us a decent amount of money after June 1st.

He needs to be cut IMO. Dead weight with his health.

Ech.

Y2, your idea about getting McCardell in here is looking better all the time, if we can afford him.

Damn, I hate that for Jeffers, and for us too. Having him playing like he did two years ago would have been great, [My wife just walked in, looked at what I was typing, said "God, its four months away, I can't believe you're into that now!" "Hey, baby, mini-camp starts tommorrow." She shook her head and walked out. Now, where was I?
Oh, yeah, that sucks for Jeffers. I really wanted to see him and Moose on the field together again.

You bet, but I'd be satisfied with Derrick Alexander. I like McCardell a lot though. He's got something to prove also, the Jags said he's too slow, so I'd like to see him here when he proves it. Jimmy Smith will miss him most of all. We lose Jefferes, Hayes, and that other guy retired, Fox needs to step up and address the position, and I'm confident he will. Passing might not be his priorty, but it's a neccesity.

During football season my stand is this: "They play 16 games a year out of 52 weeks in a year"

After 4 years of marriage, she's starting realize there's 5 weeks of preseason, 5 weeks of post season. FA round 1, Draft, FA round 2, mini camps. Cuts, cuts and more cuts and more FA. Last month I informed her the Arena Football League season will now begin when the NFL ends. Between all that, there's racing. I think she's taking it pretty well overall.

Its a damn shame, in our new offense, I'd look for Pat to add more value than Wes...

Jeffers did have a hell of a season but the wheels wont turn like they used to. Maybe cut our ties and get us someone else. How much money will we save if he is gone?

Not that much. He took a pay cut already, down to the minimum, with the chance to return on incentives that will be pused to next year if he makes them. So I think just 500K.

It's getting to be an old mantra, but we don't have the cap space to pay over the vet minumum, and others do.

Guys Jeffers will be fine come regular season. His sitting out is a result of two things. He just had both knees scoped and his wife is about to give birth to their first any hour now. This wasn't some major surgery just a simple scope so that he will be healthy come regular season.
