Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme underwent right elbow surgery this morning at Carolinas Medical Center.

Delhomme was having what is commonly known as Tommy John Surgery, in which a tendon is taken from another part of his body to strengthen and repair the elbow.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Pat Connor of OrthoCarolina. Connor is also the Panthers' team physician.

"Jake underwent a medial ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction this morning of his right elbow and the surgery went well," Connor said in a statement. "His post-operative rehabilitation will start soon and he has an excellent prognosis."

The surgery took approximately 90 minutes.

The Panthers, who are off this weekend, went through their final practice prior to a three-day break. They will resume work Monday.

Now for the question. Does anyone have a picture of Jake coming out of the hospital? If so please post it so Colon can take a look at it and let us know how successful the operation was and how long he will be out.

I am not sure that I like that part of it. He should have gone to Doctor Andrews.

Agreed. I wondered why they had the team guy do such a serious procedure.

And SemperFi, I don't need yet another stalker. No one cares that I hurt your feelings, so suck it up or just move on.

Not for nothing, but my big boss tore up his shoulder mountain biking and was talking to his orthopedic doctor about Jakes injury (not this guy) and the doctor said he would be shocked if Jake came back before 18 months

sure, it's an opinion from a doctor, but it's a generalization. I would take the word of the attending physician over an outsider.

I don't. The attending physician is a team guy, and like Jake's agent, potentially has a good reason to downplay his recovery time.
