I don`t see it as Jake getting criticized. I was just pointing out that his great numbers should be a mutiplayer accolade and not Jake`s alone.
No pressure from the defense caused that Texans` loss. I`ve seen 21 points win more games than I`ve got fingers and toes. I bet if stats were available that allowing 34 will garner you a loss 98% of the time.

Without the benefit of stats, I'd agree and add "at least".

I don't know that I was referring to your writing when I alleged Jake was being criticized.

Dude....nobody ever claimed that the recievers said Weinke "was better than Jake"...relax and read what I wrote. They said in an interview (and I will do my damn best to find it) that catching balls from Weinke was different because he throws a harder ball and his spiral was tighter. They didn't ever say he was better...just comparing. He was a baseball player, don't forget so it stands to reason he had a strong throwing arm.

I can't believe that anybody would want to even consider Jake's play as a liability right now. If he had somebody besides Steve Smith that he could consistantly count on to make a fucking play, and a consistant running game, this offense would be just fine. They're already much better than last year.

The only problem I have is that Smith is the only one that seems to go after the ball aggressively. With Jake at QB (outright drops aside) a number of his passes require a WR to go over a defender or otherwise adjust to the ball in the air to a position where they are fighting a defender for the ball.
Sure Jake had good numbers in the game and admittedly, I didn't pay much attention to the second half, but what I did see was more of the same. He throws the ball AT defenders FAR too often.
DO I think he should be benched, NO. I was simply commenting on my observation.
I have a seventh grader I have been coaching to not wait for the WR to come free, but to hit his drop steps, step up and throw the ball away from the defender when throwing any out/deep route and low and hot through "windows" on the short inside routes.
    Incompletions are better than interceptions.

You aren't suggesting that Jake doesn’t throw a significant number of INT’s or dangerously bad passes on a consistent basis are you? Yes, Jake is only charged with one interception so far. However, the first two games are not a sturdy enough platform to base ANY definitive conclusion on. He has had some very untimely stretches of really bad passes that were pick’d or should have been. Can some of those bad passes be excused away on poor line play and/or bad receivers? Probably, but the fact remains that Jake possesses the reoccurring flaw that he just cannot consistently safely spread the ball around in a scheme that either depends on him doing so OR depends on Smith bailing Jake out with superhuman feats.
I would like to be able to back Delhomme and feel optimistic about him effectively leading this team. Until Jake puts more than two or three solid games together the optimism will be guarded at best.

all receivers should do that. Moose did it. Proehl did. You can't afford to be passive, and you have to do everything you can to be the best. Certainly, Jake has a tendency to force things in there, and some QBs do. It's not unacceptable. Just don't force things into double coverage, give your guy a chance.

So I think we're left with the same conclusion as before, Smith is elite and the other receivers are mediocre.

No QB is gonna throw a perfect pass everytime...those WR's get paid to make plays, not wait for a play to come to them. Jake was fine Sunday aside from that one INT he threw. It would be beyond stupid to even consider benching the starting QB right now.
