fair enough in comparison to last year. we were without an OL last year and we do have better there this year. just not sure that we can expect to continue generating those kinda points against good teams this year.

most of those points in your average came agains the porous rams. of the three TDs against the Texans, one was giftwrapped from a fumble and was capped off by our lone playmaker (no change from last year). The other came after the game was already lost on a freak play when the Texans were more interested in trying to get a big hit than wrapping up. the running game sucked. the return game sucked. the pass protection sucked. outside of Smitty, the receivers sucked. Foster returned to his fumbling ways. throw those problems out of the equation and i think you right that we can realistically expect to score 24 points a game for the rest of the year.

will agree on the Smitty play, that it seems like a dangerous route and am surprised that we are trying to run it.

jake will throw into tight coverage but usually to a spot that he thinks his receiver can win it. he did a good job of using Moose's height and size to complete passes to him (which he would of had to since Moose never was able to get any separation to speak of). I personally don't have a problem with that especially when we are having trouble finding anyone that can get open or catch the ball other than Smitty. your alternative is be weinkesk and hang on to the ball too long because you're too scared to throw it or throw short cowardly passes that have no chance of picking up the first. Jake at least gives us a chance. in doing so, he's gonna get picked sometimes. as long as it's not a lot, i think we have a winner.

on a brighter note, I have not yet seen the overthrow issue he was having a problem with in the past. i haven't paid attention. is he doing a better job of throwing off his front foot this year?

He's been more accurate so far this year. He's been a bit more consistent about setting his feet, even on the move, being a bit more consistent than he was last year. That second TD pass to Carter was nice to see, he gathered himself and made an accurate pass after scrambling a bit.

The overthrows had more to do with his arm motion, and not having a consistent release point. He's done a bit better on that so far, but it's just two games, so let's wait and see. He's never going to be the prettiest or most consistent guy with that, but he's made it work so far.
