That's all well and good, but if he signed an injury settlement then he wasn't Waived. Which means he wasn't on the waiver wire, he was a free agent, but it says the Dolphins picked up his waiver. This is where I'm confused.

U didn't know that injury settlement counted as a waiver. I always assumed it was a release.

Oh and that reminds me, I had hopes Peko could be an O-line contributor and he turned out to be a turd.

The CBA is silent on "injury settlements" specifically but it is safe to say that it is treated like other settlements.

In this case, an injury settlement is given to a waived player requiring them to sign a paper saying they will not initiate an "Injury Grievance" (which is covered by the CBA). Without an injury settlement, a player can file a grievance saying the football related injury kept him from performing his duties and thus he should be placed on IR. (You might call it "hush money" so to speak.)

A waived player is a waived player and an injury settlement is unrelated to that status. If you've ever been fired/laidoff you might have seen a similar form that, if you sign, they'll give you X weeks of pay if you promise not to file a law suite.

    Hope this helps.
