Jack Buck, announcer for the St. Louis Cardinals, holds a copy of his book, "Jack Buck: That's a Winner," while seated in the KMOX broadcast booth at Busch Stadium, home of the Cardinals, on May 5, 1997

I can still remember his most famous call: Game 6 of the 1991 World Series (Twins vs. Braves) . . . When Puckett hit the home run to tie the series. Joe Buck: ' . . . and we will see you tomorrow night . . . '

Jack Buck R.I.P

Thank SDS...I always liked Jack. When my Pirates would go west the the McDonalds arch, the broadcasters would venture to the opponents booths. I always liked it when Buck would go in and talk with The Gunner (Bob Prince) and Nelly King. Those were some good times, when I loved the game of baseball as much as life itself.

Their first strike lost me as a fan, the second put a stake through my heart, and now the steroid issue...well, it's almost amusing that the players union can have such disdain for public opinion, or being a role model for kids.

But I disgress. RIP Jack, you will be missed.

One of the few old time storytellers that was still left in the booth. He will be missed. Ernie Harwell (Tigers) hangs 'em up this year leaving Vin Scully as the last of that breed. Today's guys just don't match up to these men in calling a game. They all try to be too cute or too hip.

Good point T - always liked Vin & Ernie too. They made the game for me.
