Well, we had plenty of complaining in '03 too. And if you looked at the Bears' board any this year it's the same thing and they're having a great year. Fans bitch and want perfection. At least we haven't been inundated with draft threads this year.

Personally, me... football will end when the Panthers' season ends and I will be itching for April, July and September '06 to get here.

I'm actually looking forward to this week of football, not because of the Panthers, just because there's a skeleton crew at work, there's a bowl game on about every night., I'm off on January 2nd so I can get toasted all day on New Years day and watch the NFL, and I gotta party and eat like crazy so I can start on my New Years resolutions on Jan 2nd.

pretty much sums it up for me. Salsbury nailed it last night when he called the Panthers the most schitzophrenic team in the league. How can you blow away Tampa, Minnesota, and Atlanta, struggle against lesser teams such as Detroit, Arizona, and New Orleans (first game) and be considered a top contender? The talent for the most part is there, sometimes the coaching (play calling and adjustments) and the effort (tackling, fighting for the ball, dominating teams or players of lesser talent) isn't.

I have football free since sat afternoon. looked on here after the game to see a few things, but only for a minute. had the worst feeling walking out of the stadium. just had to get away from it for a few days......didnt let it ruin Christmas though. after all, its only football.

but this is a new week. looking foward to the ATL game. hope the Panthers focus on Falcons and let the Dallas game go. if not they are already done.

Expectations are the problem. SI and the strong finish last year got "fans" hyped, and anything short of a Super Bowl was probably going to be met with this reaction. Somehow I imagine that even if we do beat Atlanta this weekend, it won't even slow down the bitching.

Bitching as in some of us bitching at them for a lack of_____, or some of us bitching at others for bitching? Or even some of us bitching about others lack of football knowledge and bitching about others' stoopid (perceived or not) opinions?

I'm betting, no slow down. The superbowl to me is a grand gravy thing. Actually playing consistently- whether awsome, solid or mediocre, I can deal with better than what I've been witnessing from talented individuals.
I'd like to have a decent idea from week to week of the team that will show up on Sunday, good or bad. I expect more of a consistent team, not necessarily a superbowl. I also expect improvement.

I been saying that for...well...almost as long as I can remember.

Welcome to the NFL, chief. Tampa Bay killed us and got killed by us. They beat Miami, Washington, and Atlanta twice, but also lost to the 49ers and Jets. Consistency is not a feature of professional football unless you're consistently terrible or one of the rare, freakishly good teams ('05 Colts, recent Patriots).

I could get use to freakishly good with very little bitching.
