I'm sick of my job. I've been with this company for 18 years and it's time to move on. Judging by how much Sly and Bear post here during the day, they're sick of their jobs as well. How 'bout if we get a bunch of TBR members to open a new bar. We'll talk Larry into staying in Charlotte to help run it. Maybe we can call it "This Bar Rocks" or something. Anyone interested? Any ideas?

I'd love that. Actually, there's 2 things that I would enjoy being a part of.

1. Real "neighborhood" bar that's family and drinker friendly with good food. This was the norm up north. Here, it seems like drinking has a negative connotation, so bars aren't usually really family friendly. Maybe there's some of those in Dilworth, but certainly not near me in Concord.

2. Every time I go to a nudie bar, I wish I could go to a regular bar with pool tables, dart boards, and semi-reasonably priced beers to see tits. To me, tits should be part of the scenery and add to a generally hedonistic environment rather than be the only thing in the room to focus on. Maybe just have the wait staff, male and female, shirtless and in thongs. You can pay them for a lap dance or to feed you grapes, or whatever. I don't know if there's a business model that could make this work, but I'd enjoy my job alot.

Well, I just came up with the idea so haven't given it a whole lot of though yet. But I figure if we have some theme nights, board members can help us draw a crowd:

Racist Afro American Night - Hero

Future Bro-in-law works at a joint just like the one you describe here (Chickie 'n Pete's). The place makes a killing because the food IS good, going there is convenient and it's sort of a "rite of passage" for families as the kids get older. It also helps to have a shitload of extended families and friends living close to one another - which is the case in Philly.

I also like idea #2. Kind of like an R or X-rated version of Hooters - only better.
