I think the point is that things are dysfunctional. Coaches are undermined by stuff like that. JR is pulling the strings to a degree that a lot of people didn't realize, suspect, whatever. Stuff like that.

I've said for a long time that the only way some things that didn't make sense, make sense, is if JR is exerting influence. I have no way to know but can't explain it otherwise.

Owners playing favorites isn't news. Redskins went to Snyder, Cowboys went to Jerry Jones, Raiders went to Al Davis, Vick went to Blank, etc. That in no way means that Richardson was taking point on personnel or contract decisions.

Hurney not being fired by now for any number of things says to me that he is not making a lot of these moves, over the years, independently without approval (or instructions). But again, I don't know. I just think that. You are free to think what you want too.

 

JR is bankrolling this, so he's the first person to blame. He's the guy who won't fire Hurney. He's the guy who made a Wofford buddy into team president. He's the one who either doesn't know how to, or refuses to, entrust his franchise to people who know what they're doing.

Things will never change until he does.

And for that matter, since Chud was a TE guy, how the hell did he let us go into the season without bringing Shockey back. Sure seems like we miss him now. Blocking is not Barnidge's forte.

As far as Jerry goes, we all remember his offseason swares with his trusted Vets. While im certain he has a say in who stays to shape his team i dont see him getting involved in the later day draft pics weve consistently bungled. And then you have AE. So who knows how fucked this org truly is.

I already documented how Richardson held no one accountable for gross mismanagement of Denny's. Again, I've never claimed that JR is an absentee owner, but the idea that he is running things like Jerry Jones is idiotic. He's not deciding contract terms, and he's not even deciding who to sign. Richardson's passion is people, which is nice when it involves interacting with fans and terrible when it involves not holding his employees accountable. He likes and trusts Hurney, and his refusal to make a change makes him a bad owner. But the mistakes are still all Hurney. Hurney's habits of trading future picks and re-signing the roster all stem from his time under Beathard in Washington. He makes bad decisions because he's incompetent, not because he's following JR's orders.


I really don't get it. Did anyone claim that Richardson was the decision-maker when Polian was here? Why some people refuse to pin the blame on Hurney is beyond me.

 

Collin, no one claimed he was Jerry Jones, that I remember seeing. I stand by my opinion, you can stand by your Denny's analogy if you want. I really don't give a shit because, again, neither of us can prove our assumptions.
