    • EXTRA POINTS: Versatile fullback Nick Goings came out of the morning practice with a cast on his right foot, but his injury wasn't as bad as it appeared. Fox said Goings suffered a high ankle sprain, and the cast was part of an aggressive treatment plan. Fox said the cast would stay on for a few days, at which point Goings would be re-evaluated

Great link GP40. That about covers it all! Fox is going to have to bring in another back for camp . . . unless he is planning on Davis and Foster taking equal shares of reps in camp and preseason games (and I'm sure he isn't).
I wonder who he'll will bring in. Any guesses?

no they don't... they have Moore, Hoover and a number of no names that the single little loss of Goings isn't going to overwork anyone.

Aren't high ankle sprains the worst? I seem to remember players being hobbled for quite awhile with these things...

A number of no names? The backs on the roster:

Davis, Foster, Smart, Goings, Moore, Hoover, Joey Harris.

There's a total of one scrub there, two fullbacks, an injured tweener, two elite backs, and a special teamer. We have no backs to take late carries.

There isn't any law that says Harris has to play one series and come out. Harris was supposed to have looked good yesterday. Give him the whole 4th Q. Take a nice long look at Smart. If we have more injuries, we need to sign someone. Otherwise, I think we're OK. Besides, it sounds like they're talking about a 2 week injury for Goings. Maybe longer, but we don't know that.

agreed we're stacked at RB but without scrubs, guess we can't have it all

Davis needs some work to get in game shape, just a little. Foster is still the number 2, finished the season strong, but still could use the work. Going into his 3rd year and only seeing part-time playing time last year, he's still developing. Smart would love the work too I think. He has fun out there and if asked, I bet he'd want to play as much as possible. Still with Hoover & Harris, we're covered.

Prob I think we're seeing, is our whole fckn team looks like stars after last year, and we don't want them hurt or overworked in preseason. They gotta play to get ready. Just have to hold our breath and hope for the best.

Agree, Harris and Smart can do average out there. But that's it. That's two backs, add the fullbacks. For 3 quarters, or at least I'd assume. I wouldn't want Foster out there till the half.

I dunno if it's a matter of having it all or not. Keeping Fisher and having another back just means we have one less scrub at another position.

magnus, Your pal Dee Brown was picked up today by the browns. I think the falcons only cut him on Friday. I keep thinking about us bringing in some of our previously cut "scrubs of the past" for fodder duty. However, those guys that we have let go before probably would have very little interest in signing on now huh? Anyway, as I see it we need a C/G and a RB if Goings is going to be gone for a couple of weeks or more . . . Dee could have helped us as a temp, but I guess he'd rather be fodder in Cleveland.)
