A lot of teams use that, and it happens on defense as well.

Experienced starting QB's on the same team for 3+ years? help me out...I can't think of any

    Favre-?
    Manning-?
    Brady-?
    Green-?
    Culpepper-?
    McNabb-?
Warner-? and he just got there
Eli Manning-? and you would think if anyone would need one it's him
    McNair-?
    QB for Saints-?
    Garcia-?
    Brunell-?
    Collins doesn't count...he's just stupid
    QB for Seahawks-?
    Brees-?
    Bledsoe-?

Why not just call the play in, save precious time in the huddle, and not look like a rookie by using your cheat cards attached to your arm. To some it's no big deal...to others it's a sign of inexperience. And as a QB, inexperience is not the image one wants to portray

I don't know which QBs use it and which don't, but it is extremely common around the league. I certainly wouldn't think that it would cause his teammates to look at him any differently. I think that's grasping at straws.

Actually, the armband thing is getting en vogue. A lot of teams are implementing it. I want to say I saw Brady use is this year.

If nothing else, it can save time in the play calling.

    No and no

But I agree with collin that it is nowhere near the reasons for Jake's faults. Not that I was grasping for straws. It is a point of reference to the remark about teammates losing confidence and in a tense time when you are counting on your leader to instill confidence by his swagger, speech and control..you see you QB scrambling looking at his arm for the play....ain't going to inspire many doing that. But like I said, it is nowhere near what Jake's problems are...just a symbol.

I swear I've seen it around more this year. It used to be, well, us. And I've seen more and more teams using it. Maybe not Brady, though I swear I have a memory of him vs the Colts this year using it.

It can save a couple of seconds, just calling out a couple of numbers or colors from the press box.

Yeah...but then the time saved is wasted on trying to find it on the arm band. Oh well...time to move on to something else.

Only a few teams do that, and there have been plenty of stories about that. Its to save time. Doesnt have a damn thing to do with "rookies". Regardless of whether you like it or not, blame Henning and FOx for that, not Delhomme. Thats really weak.

And yes, there are numerous defensive players that have that as well. Ulracher does, for instance.

The idea behind it is to call a numer, and the quarterback to look at it directly, so there is no confusion with plays that sound similar, or so that a quarterback does not forget. Jake has enough things to fix, and the armband just isnt one of them.

Isnt that the only audible Manning calls? I thought they called 2 plays, a pass and a run, and PM switched at the LOS.
