You bet. But some of those FA's were 1 year replacements for the guys on IR.

Draft, players on IR, and bargain backups. Just like last year. And just like every year past that. I don't think I'm going to be crying if we don't get Jamal Robertson back, or 3 more like him.

Robertson isn't one of those. The 22 are:
    LB Brian Allen
    LB Jessie Armstead
    RB Brandon Bennett
    LB Mark Fields
    S Curtis Fuller
    WR Karl Hankton
    DE Kavika Pittman
    S Damien Richardson
    RB Rod Smart
    S Travares Tillman
    G Rich Tylski
    T Matt Willig
    T Dave Kadela
    CB William Hampton
    DE Kemp Rasmussen
    WR Micah Ross
    S Dante Wesley
    LB Will Witherspoon
    LB Vinny Ciurciu
    CB Eddie Jackson
    DT Omari Jordan
    DT Cleveland Pinkney

Of those maybe 4, Bennett, Fuller, Ross, and Pickney came on to replace IR players. However, regardless of who fills the spot, a returnee, a draftee, a FA, or whatever, it's a spot to fill and money to spend.

I bolded the "need players", or at least those are the three I would prefer to keep.

The others could walk and I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep, fellas.

I still think everyone is missing the point. Heck let them ALL go. Now you haven't saved a penny (they're not under contract). But you have to replace them.

In reality, only Kadela need return at OT, with he and Fordham backing Gross and whoever - or one guard, if Wharton moves out by chance.

Same with LB, where you need Fields back, but it's going to happen, and while Ciurciu should return (ERFA?), it's not a roster spot necessarily because Tufts is under contract. Allen and Armstead only represent a backup roster spot, and hopefully we don't over-depth ourselves next year there.

I believe many of those players are ERFA or RFA, and not all of them should be brought back as depth, much less that only a portion should make the final cut.

LB Mark Fields - A couple more years from this man please
    S Curtis Fuller - whatever
WR Karl Hankton - very long in the tooth but still need him apparently
    DE Kavika Pittman - nope
S Damien Richardson - PLEASE go away!
RB Rod Smart - Fun havin ya here
S Travares Tillman - ??? the sheer numbers game (or lack thereof) might keep him around
G Rich Tylski - Retire again please
    T Matt Willig - GONE!!!!!
T Dave Kadela - decent backup OL
CB William Hampton - Keeper CB/FS if he recovers fully
DE Kemp Rasmussen - Keeper. Maybe he learns to LS.)
WR Micah Ross - maybe the new Hankton but I doubt it
S Dante Wesley - his faliure to develop made us go get Hawkins
LB Will Witherspoon - New big contract (not TOO big i hope)
LB Vinny Ciurciu - Tufts is the new Vinny
CB Eddie Jackson - The new Dante

Anyone know the cap status? I gotta feeling it's pretty tight right now.
