So, a family member is a professional photographer.. she took these pics of the baby! I don't really like her style of baby picture taking.. What do you guys think? I don't know if I want to go to Sears and get cheesy baby pictures taken.. but I just might... unless they won't be any better! Do you guys know of anyone good I could contact?

not to suggest I could do any better - I don't know that i could, but since you asked: no, I don't particularly like those either.

    i agree with mark.

photoguy has a lot of experience with child photography...

personally if you're close to mark (location) i'd have him take a few shots. i have a feeling he'd take a few good ones.

    those are bad.

faced with that shoot, any professional photographer would either light the baby or use good glass to let a lot of light in (and have a body that will shoot high ISO).

does the family member have a web site?

I didn't explore the website thoroughly, but I didn't get any photos to come up in the "family" category. Whether that's because of a website malfunction or that the photographer hasn't yet established a portfolio in that category, I'm not sure. But some of the other work looked good, so I'm guessing that maybe this person just hasn't got the hang of capturing babies yet

I agree with voyer--if Mark's not too far away, I'd consider asking him to take some pics. I've looked at a lot of his, & he's got a knack for getting some excellent shots of people--including kids.

IT's not the photographer's fault the kid isn't photogenic.
