i'm just saying there's a talent pool where we could upgrade our back-up QB but there are no back-up QB's in the league that would be an upgrade to our starter

and for everyone who's "lost faith" in Delhomme... well, you probably used to be a cowboy fan

Nope. And I will still be a Panthers fan, but I definitely lost faith.

And I seriously wonder, despite all the lip service to the contrary, if he also lost a lot of guys on the team that day.

It wasn't just one bad play at crunch time.

I am not willing to write Jake off because of one really bad playoff game but I do have doubts about him now. He is getting older and had a major operation on his throwing elbow. I do not think any backup QB out there is an upgrade on a healthy Jake, except for the occassional game he has were the stinks. I do think there are guys who could help us should Jake go down again or have his level of play fall off to where the stinker games become the norm.

he's been clutch a lot more then he's been choke...

a lot more went into what happen other then Jake's bad throws... he never should have been put in that position to begin with... dropping the run, play calling, etc... and the defense did nothing for the offense really.

Jake's still great option in my mind. He's had a one full season now in the new offense, he has a new QB's coach now, and hopefully we'll keep our OL as intact as possible. I really do expect to see Jake have a much better season than last year as far as rating go, and end the season on a higher note. I have all the confidence in the world in Jake, as I'm sure the team does too.

I wish you sons of bitches would stop talking about what he's done in the past. Time doesn't move backwards. You have to look at the player right now and decide if he's the right guy moving forward.

I feel that is a very legitimate concern.
