I lost a lot of confidence in Jake this year, and Saturday took away the last bit of good feeling about him as our starting QB.

But Leftwitch's exagerrated/prolonged windup and past durability issues are big red flags to me.

Leftwich would be an upgrade, but with Delhomme and McCown both under contract at fairly reasonable prices (plus Moore as the #3), Carolina won't bring in anyone else besides maybe some young roster fodder to challenge Moore.

You forgot to add the word unfortunately at the end of your post.

Also, not directed at collin, Leftwich's windup and subsequent 'slow' release ain't much slower, if any, in aggregate than JD's. Leftwich's mobility ain't much different than JD's (I'm not sure about stoopid sack-fumbles- JD has a lot, seems to me), nor are his quick decisions any slower than JD's, when he's not pressured terribly.

Leftwich would be an upgrade as far as skillset. The 'heart' or leadership part, I don't know. But the WTF plays still overshadow any leadership, skill, or any other qualities, imo. At times, QB's have to make prayer throws to great recievers to make a play. So you have to take the good and the bad. But also, you would think with our running game and weapons, etc., that we wouldn't be in position to have to make so many of those.

Whether it's on the O, D or coaching (all of the above, imo). And by coaching, I mean adjustments, gameplanning A & B, playcalling and most importantly, actual fuking plays designed for the opponent, which may change week to week. We lack that terribly. I think we won most times in spite of the above. But you simply can't win against playoff caliber teams without the above, which we didn't most all season.

Well yeah, the time that Jake waves the ball around while holding it too long is problematic. Leftwitch is just as scary to me. His injury history is too.

I can't question Leftwitch's heart though, he is a battler.

I guess the accuracy improvement alone would be enough to agree he'd be an upgrade, if he could stay healthy.

I'm not positive, but if Jake took the beatdown Byron did his last two or three starting seasons, he wouldn't be too healthy either.

Are you sure about that? Schefter is reporting Jake is due $11M this year.

He would know, I guess. The NFLPA shut down the part of their site I always used for contract information, so now I have to rely on shit like Rotoworld, which isn't always accurate. They have Jake listed at a base salary of $5.325 million, plus whatever remainder of his signing bonus and a $1 mil roster bonus due in March. They've restructured his deal several times, so I have no idea what the money looks like at this point.
