It's human nature to protect yourself from heartaches and let-downs. Kind of a self defense mechanism. It doesn't make anyone any less of a fan.

Combine that with the fact that every publication isn't plugging the Panthers as Superbowl challengers, and the fan's excitement subsides.

The way I see it, all this will make the Lombardi, when it finally arrives in Charlotte, that much more enjoyable.

Just think back to 2001...1-15. How miserable was that! How excited were you about the 2002 season? How much excitement did you have in the preseason of 2003 after that 8 game losing streak in 2002?

Something has changed. I've never seen this place so dead at the start of the season. Maybe my memory isn't right about it but it does seem extra quiet.

Sometime I look at the Huddle when bored, but god that place blows ass.

You're right. Part of it is my fault as I just haven't been as productive as past years, but I just can't seem to muster the energy.

I'm actually looking at Gantt's blog for updates. Both Smith and Hackett were injured the other day and as minor as it seemed it wasn't ever mentioned here.

I'm not complaining, just pointing to the difference.
