Chris Leak probably helped his draft status last night, no doubt,,,, he played a great game on the big stage and made a lot of good decisions. While I was watching every single one of his passes, even his intentional throwing the ball away when he needed to, I thought he looked good,,,,,,,,, then again, I couldn't help but wonder about his arm strength? And I also noticed his height (or lack of) because he's just not that tall. But I gotta admit he impressed me and he had me thinking an awful lot of how it would be nice for the Panthers to somehow get him. Definitely not in the 1st round though. I realize the hometown connections, but pro football is a business. I think the biggest asset Chris Leak brings to the table is a good head on his shoulders,,, he showed that last night. The Panthers need to look at him seriously, that is if they are interested in grooming a QB for the future.

ahh, come on Mike :bluegrab: Riddel started this exact thread about a week and a half ago.

BTW, no. Leak's OK, and he's a guy we all know from high school; he's got decent ability. But he's not an above average prospect.

I think he'd do good in an offense similar to the Steve Young 49er offense a few years ago. I'm not saying he's as good, simply that's where he'd fit.

I was actually thinking that after last night's game that the Panthers might have a shot at Smith in the 3rd round. Leak played a great game but I don't think he has as much upside.

im not sure leak can make a team. I think his arm is weak. A few of those passes he threw last night that were almost int's get picked next year.

I think the arm is OK. It's not that good, but passable. It's not a Ken Dorsey level problem, but it's down there. He could make it in a WCO, and might make a little living on enough deep balls IF the pass is set up, but he'll probably have problems with the 15 yard out and I can't say if I remember him having good deep accuracy either.
he does have plenty of knocks against him - that being one - and Meyer's made a living making guys without much arm look like killers. If you're short, don't have velocity or strength on your throws, by all means, go to Florida.

that one pass Leak floated would have been a pick 6 in the NFL

the OSU secondary was leaving ridiculous cushions (for whatever reason) and the WR had all day to adjust and catch a very poorly thrown ball

Before this year I would have said Leak would NEVER play in the NFL. However, after seeing him play this year and seeing how his game has matured I think he could hang.
I've said Troy Smith is too mechanical and used to feel the same way about Leak, but Leak has become much more fluid. He sees the entire field, moves around without lossing sight of his WR's and know's when to take-off, take the sack or throw it away. His height is a liability, but the guy has got a great head.
Still doubt him as a starter, but a possible career back-up isn't too much of a stretch.

Giving you shit is all...the double post isn't a problem. But yeah, I wouldn't go QB in the first and if I did, it wouldn't be CL.
