They stole Dick Vermil's 3-year SB plan, minus the crying.

I had all but written off the chances of getting Fields back like he was in 2002. Good news on the Fields front gets me excited. He is one of the better linebackers in the league. I would loved to have seen him take down Brady a time or two in the superbowl. That might have been the differnce for us. I would really have liked to see him drill Vrabel when he came in for those cutesy pass plays.

Last year Fields helped inspire us to reach the SB,this year he can help us win it - wouldn't that be sweet?

I am going to wait for the couple of weeks that it's apparently going to take to make it official, but unofficially . . . I know fans friends and loved ones could not be happier that Mark is doing so well. It’s icing on the cake if he can play (even if he has lost a step and is a backup). Once Fields is healthy then we can focus all the prayers on Sam. Having 58 & 51 back with clean bills of health would be like winning back to back Superbowls IMO.

    >>>Panthers | Fields Anticipates Return to Practice Next Month - from www.KFFL.com
    Tue, 4 May 2004 14:00:01 -0700

The Associated Press reports Carolina Panthers LB Mark Fields (Hodgkin's disease) has been making great progress in his battle with Hodgkin's disease and he anticipates returning to the practice field next month. "Everything has come along real well," Fields said. "The doctors are happy. The coaches are happy. They are kind of just working me back in there slowly." Fields has re-established his previous playing weight and is said to be in excellent physical condition.<<<

I don't have the ESPN Ch (just basic $10 cable) but have they reported anything recently on Fields progress? This story should be huge . . . especially if he makes it all the way back to start or even contribute at some point during this season.
