"sticking to the status quo" is the biggest problem with this regime. Repeatedly sticking with the same brand of crappy 7th round guards, and overrated T's, and limited TEs, and "Our Guy" on the cheap QBs, and untalented DTs, and talented but STUPID DBs, the list rambles on and fucking on!
Naive/BAD decision-maker owner "sticks to" his GM even though personnel moves get worse and worse and sticks to a HC who stubbornly stays the same exact course regardless of what he has to work with.
I keep remembering Fox proudly stating in '03 (during camp or preseason?) after numerous upgrades were in place "if you're not getting better you're getting worse"

hopefully the new HC AND GM will be part of the panthers "getting better" in '11

gimme some of that old time smash-mouth football. run the ball down their throats and play killer D. entertain me with sexy cheerleaders, a great fight-song, a colorful head coach and assistants doing somersaults on the sideline, free beer, snazzy marching bands at half-time and rocking the stadium with some hillbilly music. take the dull outa the game with more players like Smitty and less players like Clausen.

Modernizing our offense to 2010 doesn't necessarily mean a Fun-Gun passing frenzy. Hammer is dead on when he says:
"Our philosophy was sound in the 70's (ball control, play solid D and hope the opponent has a mediocre day against you)."
Our backs will be much more effective if we can open up the passing game, which Fox and Co. have been unwilling or unable to do.
I remember the days when Panther Tight Ends were actually used as receivers.

Where did Odin, myself or anybody else say they didn't want a winning team???

As for last bad season like this one being 9 years ago, there have been several others in the mix, just not this extreme.

Maybe the scheme isn't the problem, but if that's the case, then every fucking thing else is the problem, coaching, players, management, etc.

I'm up for anything because really...could it get much worse. Get a offensive minded coach, go to a 3-4, run a wild cat all game long. I don't care. Just as long as we get a new direction.

We can still get a new coach, run the same/similar scheme as Fox and be a totally different team. Every team built to run the ball with good defense doesn't look as bad as the Panthers.

I'm on the Andrew Luck bandwagon all the way. Between him and Clausen one of them has to develop into a good/great QB. Get a vet like Orton and get a coach who will play the best player. If it's a rook then so be it.

For a coach I'd like Dungy, Harbaugh, little Schottenheimer or even Chucky.
