As Paul posted, Dalton has his new deal for $115 million over 6 years. Before that Kaepernick got $126 million over six years, Jay Cutler got $126 million over seven years, and Aaron Rodgers got $110 million over five years. Remember that Cam Newton is the first of the quarterbacks to be screwed by the draft slotting changes and therefore he made $28.4 million less than Sam Bradford over their first five seasons in the league. So how much is his extension going to cost?

This is what happens when you wait. They probably could have gotten it done for 115 had they got on it in February

The Rogers contract will keep it from being at the high end of the spectrum, but he is the face of the franchise and puts butts in the seats. My guess is 6 years and 130 million.

Not a chance. I was saying long before February that Cam is going to be the highest paid player in the league, which is why I advocated the admittedly radical move of trading him for a bundle and drafting Bridgewater. I think $130 million would get Cam to the highest total dollars, but it would be short of the highest average annual value, which is why I bumped him to $140 million. The JR's will thing might actually happen too.

Highest paid player is a very real possibility. Totally agree.

Maybe Gettleman created the league's worst offensive line and wide receivers to force Cam into a bad season that drives his price tag down.

I went 130 mil, but yeah it could be higher.

I think he slacked the OT to save money to pay that bill, same with WR, and because he is a dipshit.
