Let Gross walk unless he takes a fair contract for being an avg. RT

Some of you cap gurus care to let us know what the cap hit would be for handing out these walking papers?

    Thought about it...
Not sure there is anyone better available (Cowher-I would love).

I'm sick of the conservative game planning and lack of adjustments...

I want a coach that's only objective is to destroy the opponent...not just keep it close and hope we can kick a fg at the end to win.

Said it before, I'd let Gross walk and resign Wharton to a reasonable contract and move him to RT. I'd then go find another LT.

Need to find a better blocking fullback, so Hoover is gone. He may be in a contract year this year anyways.

Colbert would be allowed to walk. I'm not sure about Carter. I don't consider him a second or even 3rd WR, but he's not a bad guy for depth if someone is hurt. I'd say they could draft someone like that, but I'm afraid that with so many holes, I'd rather use that draft pick elsewhere and bring Carter back at the league min.

For the first time in a LONG time I'm not overly concerned with the TE position.

I'm worried about Jake ever being able to play again. So either they need to bring in a replacement, or at the least someone who could legitimately compete head to head with him for the starters spot. Carr would be cut even with 3 million sitting on him.

Morgan's as good as gone. I'd bring back Diggs for one more year.

Keep Deke Cooper as a RESERVE, but find a Saftey that's better at covering rather than stopping the run.

Decide between Gamble and Lucas and let one walk. I'd prefer to keep Lucas, but he's the older of the two.

Time to flush the D-line and restart. (1) Cut Rucker, Kemo, Moorehead, and only sign Lewis if he's at a reasonable cost. (2) SERIOUSLY consider moving Peppers to the other side of the line. Fewer double teams there and its the QBs blind side. (3) Bring in a veteran leader the help keep them all focused. Preferably at DT. I like the youth speed at the ends.

Time to Kasay to hang it up as well.

Didn't magnus or somebody have a stat that Gross has allowed 1 sack while Wharton has allowed 6.5?

Gross plays on the RT side. The majority of teams have their better pass rushing end on the other side. That's like arguing that a guy that blitzes more than plays coverage, doesn't have as many interceptions. Pus the media talks Gross up like he's great. I'm not saying he's bad, but he's got more media backing which means he'll demand more money. Wharton is comparable talent for less money.

Everyone assumes that Wharton will sign for the minimum while Gross will get a Dwight Freeny deal. It may not be that way. Everything else being equal I would rather have Gross back but agree that we should not break the bank for him. I feel the same way about Wharton. Bring them both back if they will sign for a reasonable deal.

Our offense is lacking a legit #2 receiver and a good quarterback. If Jake comes back I like this offense. I like it better with a solid #2 wide out. The defense needs a solid safety who can cover. It also needs a better WLB than Diggs.

Sure, but in comparison I don't consider that a glaring weakness, while there are others. There's too many needs to upgrade in other places that would have it make sense to bring Diggs back and replace him in 2 years.
