He has new and arguably improved weapons, a year in the system, and hopefully his confidence. He looked great at times last year when he returned to the starting lineup in week 8, but still went 4-6 as a starter and his stats were good but not great.

Looking at those numbers, he basically went 197/319 for 2,104 yards with 15 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed for 223 yards on 37 attempts, and 19 of them resulted in a first down or a touchdown. His quarterback rating was 88.9, which is pretty much in Tyrod Taylor territory. In other words, competent, but not great. I think we all thought it was great because we were comparing him to the guy who got benched, but despite the big time throws he wasn't a world-beater.

If we extrapolate those numbers to a full season, I think we need to make a few adjustments. First, he won't have as many drops. I'm assuming that XL gets his issues fixed a little, and TMac doesn't develop drop issues. His receivers had 13 drops after he returned, and if we cut that number to six, that gives him a completion percentage of 203/319, or roughly 64%.

I think we will continue to run the ball "stubbornly" next year, which means that Bryce will throw in the neighborhood of 32 times per game again. So, that means he will have 544 attempts. With a 64% completion rate, that translates to 348 completions. At 10.7 YPC (his 2024 number), that translates to 3,725 yards. If we think he might improve his accuracy and complete 66% of his passes, that number rises to 3,842 yards. Going by percentages, we're probably looking at 26 TDs and 10 INTs. This would raise his rating to 92.2, which is somewhere between Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray.

Does that look like a franchise quarterback to you? If you're projecting right now, what numbers would you increase or decrease from his post-return performance last year?

I think the defense will not be on the field as much during a game and we get at least 2 - 4 additional drives for the offense.

I expect his prorated numbers from last year to go up
    65-70% completion rate
    4k yds
    30 TD's
    8 Int's
    12 YPC

It depends on their offensive philosophy. Either they want to use the pass to keep the D honest so they can control with a ground pound or to use the run to draw in the front 7 and then dink and dunk their way down field. Hoping for lots of YAC with the occasional 20 yard throw to spice things up. Depending on which philosophy Young will get between 2900 and 3900 yards. I can easily see runs getting as many TDs as passes.

If he takes a step forward, great...if he slides, cut our loses.

The worst case though- we get last year but split differently. Imagine you get 2-3 games of good bryce then 2-3 games of bad... Then again they're making the roster fairly young so if he stagnates you can justify another year of trying before you pull the plug. It's not like DJ moore and Brian Burns are wasting their prime here- They're wasting it elsewhere!

A play or two away from beating the 2 SB teams... He's not that far behind. With more weapons, another year in the same offense.... Defense can't possibly be worse. No excuses.

I'd be surprised if Young wasn't considered a borderline top 10-ish NFL QB by the end of the season. I could just re-post my pre draft scouting report because everything still tracks. He's basically a smaller but more athletic Tua without the concussion problem. This might never pass as "elite" to the toughest critics, but that's a QB who can win a Super Bowl and stretch the Godless suburban white wives of Fulton county.

"As a passer, he's best on the intermediate to deep throws. Despite not having a cannon for an arm, he'll be good on corners, comebacks and fade routes because of his anticipation and touch. I see Bama WRs catching the ball over the shoulder, in stride, and getting up the field. I also feel better about his potential to stay healthy, since the guy got buried every time I watched Alabame, and only missed one game. Bill O'Brien has that weird, Belichick masochism when it comes to quarterbacks. Those freaks just want to make life as hard as humanly possible for their passers. Reich, the former quarterback, doesn't have a complex towards the position, so I expect him to help out Young with some RPO's, coverage indentifying motion, screens, etc. "

Canales started doing some of the things Reich should have done from the start, so I was a year plus a couple months off with coaching staff.

Frank was a fucking disaster, man. Jesus Christ. I expected so much more from him.

He probably enjoyed spending all that guaranteed coaching salary but was still convinced he liked the grind better then he actually had to do it and... you ever hear the one about how the farmer doubled his income?
