It seems to me that we will have to start running the ball better to get where we want to go. It will take some pressure off Jake and hopefully eliminate some of his dumb turnovers.

Stephen Davis looks like he has lost a couple of steps to me. I say make him the goal line back ala Bettis until he shows he can do more. Foster should be the feature back if he is healthy. If he is not then give a shot to Goings.

I expect we will simply stick with Davis though and his 2 ypc average.

What do you yall think we should do?

I think we should discuss it in one of the two thousand threads where we're already discussing the running game.

I think we should put Collin in as the starting RB since he is so damn good at everything. :229031_ha

The blocking by the line didn't look all that bad to me in the Detroit game. Most of the tackles were made by the LBs filling the gaps behind those big D linemen. Hoover was out and Mangum filling in didn't work as a lead blocker to take on those LBs. That, I know, doesn't explain why our run game was still weak even when Hoov was in there.

It was broadly stated that Detroit was solid up the center and weak around the corners aganst the run, but we never tried to exploit that notion. Nor it seems to me, have we hit the outside very often at all this year. Has Fox or Henning developed some kind of year long strategy for the running game this year? It would seem that the running plays include more than what we have seen, draws and up the gut. Not much pulling guards or tackles have I noticed.

I've been waiting for the coaches to pull out the stops and show some creative play calling. I have to believe that is yet to come. But for now I believe the run game has been bad because of the bland playcalling.

Not to nitpick details, but you would technically be tripping over his labia.
