I like what's happenning on the def. as far as sigings and so forth, but what they hell are they thinking on offense? Is Henning that much on his own here? Rodney Peete? Scott Mitchell? I can see Lamer Smith maaaaybe, but he's certainly not the only RB out there and we draft one in the second round then, then OK. But please tell me we're not bringing Detriots good for nothing QB's just because they know Hennings system. Are these the only viable QB's who will play for league minimum?

Agreed on Mitchell, but Pete has been a competent backup, or at least one we can afford. I’m largely happy that Mitchell doesn’t seem to be coming to fruition.

You’re probably not getting Chandler for the minimum, and that’s where we are going. A bunch of vets for the minimum. I’m glad. I’d like to have one off-season where we don’t have to do acrobatics to get under the cap.

Until we try to sign Peppers!

I also think this is a no-no for davis. We're gonna wanna play the young guys to get them experience, come hell or high water.

no doubt. let's just suck it up for a couple of years until the salaries are more justified. these older guys have 1-2 year pantherlife. experienced guys with good attitudes that can take the field and know their role.

bring in rookie playmakers and this team will be ok.

Mitchell made the pro-bowl one of his two years playing in henning's offense. detroit had the number one offense in the league that year too...then scott went downhill and never came back up. considering he had barry sanders and herman moore in their primes that was a feet in itself. i'll never forget scott's five pick performance against the eagles in the playoffs.

Peete sucks...that guy has made me say more experlatives than mitchell ever did. he fumbles, he forces the ball, he laughs when he throws a pick...plus he is a woos...evertime he gets hit he lays there in pain where most qb's get right back up.

The only two guys out there that fit what we are looking for in a backup are Peete and Jason Garrett. Every one else will either want to start or just plain sucks.

Also that seems to be the theme on defense. I guess there's a lot of value in guys who understand the system as oppossed to guys who can actually play. Just ask Spurrier.:D

that's true, but that could have more to do why I'm not worried about the moves on D. They certainly showed interest in a few more players than they've signed.

Well, maybe I'm cool with a vet. who can teach, and is not expected to play. I would certainly want whoever carries the clip board to be on the same page as the OC. Weinke and Lytle could both benefit. I like Mitchell over Peete though, if I had to choose.
