He's in charge of them. He's in charge of the overall discipline, execution. If there's a specific unit with specific deficiencies overall, then the position coach becomes a bigger problem.
Either way, while I'm not stating he needs to go, we've just not gotten enough out of our offense as a whole in five years, and we can't just always blame it on the players or lack of talent. Execution is a problem across the board, certainly, offensively and defensively.

We've only had two "bad" offensive years, the Peete one and this one. And that's without even considering that run-oriented offenses tend to rank more poorly both in terms of yards and points.

OK, fair enough, Henning often finds ways to keep his teams from being really wretched. I wasn't stating otherwise.

Our run offense rank has bested our pass offense rank once.

Obviously we've been better at passing the ball than running the ball, but "run-oriented" means that you're focused on running more often than most. Even last season when we sucked at it, we kept doing it.

The argument was that our overall yards would suffer because we run more.
My argument is about quality. And we've had a good run offense once. That's another point of lacking. It's not as if we've lost yards overall because we're running because it's our strength.

He's not been good enough. He's the far more esteemed coach, he's the crafty veteran. And we've been below average a lot more than I'd expect. We're up there in points occasionally, and that's good. But most coaches who get that esteem put together an offense every now and again, and right now the offense is a leading factor in our problems.

I understand that you think so. I disagree.
Twice. Once when we had Holly Robinson's husband at quarterback and this season when Jake and Chris made a delightful diarrhea duet in shitting the collective bed.

If you count 16 as average, he's had one above average and three below average. The one above average was 9% off average. That's mediocre. That's textbook. Disagree? That's fine, I'll agree to disagree. I'm not stating we must fire him, but he's not earned anything.

I like how you're choosing to focus on yards instead of points. Last time I checked, you don't win games by gaining more yards than your opponent. We've been above average every year but 2002 and this one.

That's what teams talk about, generally. When I looked it up before, I looked it up by points. That takes into account only the offense. And it's a compelling argument.

The defense had led the league in turnovers in all of those years but this one. We've had an above average kicker. Points makes for an interesting counter, but still doesn't excuse our offense from being crappy every year and exceptional in none of those years.

So now our offense has been "crappy every year"? Holy hyperbole, Batman. Next you'll tell me that Jake has only struggled because Henning has intentionally sabotaged him. He's that bad of a coach!

    The facts are that we ranked 30th (2002), 15th (2003), 13th (2004), 8th (2005), and 27th (now).
